Celebrate Bread and Roses at a March 3 open house!
As many of you know, after 35 years of serving the poor, homeless and marginalized of Thurston County, Bread & Roses is closing its doors. B&R has served the community in spectacular, forward-thinking ways since it was founded in 1982 by volunteers from the Catholic Worker tradition.
The houses will pass to Homes First for continued use as affordable housing for our low- income neighbors. A locally-grown nonprofit, Homes First mission believes everyone needs to be in a home to build a successful life and a successful community.
We can’t let this transition pass without a celebration of B&Rs work and of the thousands of staff and volunteers who made it all possible. You know who you are!
The celebration is set for Friday, March 3 from 5-8 p.m.
Bread and Roses House of Hospitality
1320 8th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501
Please note: This is not a potluck!
A delightful selection of Bread and Roses favorites (vegan and vegetarian, as well as meat-eater fare) will be provided. Leftovers will be divvied up and sent home with folks.
What you may bring: Your best B&R stories, good wishes and many blessings for new beginnings, musical instruments for the Bread and Roses family jam session, and the beverage of your choice (BYO … moderation in consumption is encouraged).
And … as a bonus … due to downsizing, some choice household goods will be available for you to cart away.
Please share widely.
