The destructive nature of hatred has once again reared its ugly head, this time in Charlottesville, Virginia. The march by white supremacists professing racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, Islamophobia, anti-immigration and a host of other evils has reminded us all of this ever-present plague in our communities.
We know, too, that this is not an isolated incident, our own state of Washington alone is home to 21 hate groups. We are compelled to counter these messages of hate with messages of love and justice.
All are invited to join interfaith clergy and community at an intentional gathering/vigil to stand in solidarity with Charlottesville and resistance to hatred in all its forms. Tuesday, August 15 from 6-7 p.m. outside Olympia City Hall.
Signs with peaceful messages encouraged. Clergy are invited to wear their clerical garb.
