Jake Shulman-Ment (violin, vocals, accordion, guitar) is among the leaders of a new generation of Klezmer and Eastern European folk music performers. He has performed and recorded internationally and been a faculty member of New York’s Henry Street Settlement, KlezKamp, the Krakow Jewish Culture festival, Fiddle Tunes and other festivals. He collected, studied, performed and documented traditional music in Romania as a Fulbright scholar. We are thrilled to have him stop by in Olympia.
Eleonore Weill (vocals, flutes, accordion, piano, hurdy gurdy) grew up in southern France and has a versatile career performing early, classical and contemporary music, klezmer and Yiddish song, as well as Romanian and Occitan folk music. She studied at the National Conservatory of Paris and the Sorbonne University and spent a year studying folk music in Romania.
Klezmer Workshop with Jake Shulman-Ment, Saturday, November 24, 1-4pm: The workshop is open to instrumentalists and vocalists from intermediate through professional levels.
