Statement Against Violence Toward Faith Communities

Interfaith Works Board of Directors responds to local, national and global attacks on faith communities with Statement Against Violence Toward Faith Communities

Statement Against Violence Toward Faith Communities

There are places set apart and dedicated for the practice of sacred faith traditions.  We, the Board of Directors of Interfaith Works, stand with all faith communities that condemn violence against the sacred space of any spiritual or religious group.

We believe that:

  • Violence on any sacred place is an attack on all places so dedicated; and that
  • Violence on any sacred place is an attack on the principles on which the United States was founded.

Everyone deserves to be safe when participating in their faith communities.

The Interfaith Works Board of Directors recently developed the above statement to show support to targeted faith communities, while denouncing all acts of violence.

Interfaith Works was founded in 1974 and promotes interfaith understanding among local faith communities through shared interfaith events and services.  It serves the community through charitable, social and educational endeavors.  Interfaith Works operates a 42 bed emergency overnight shelter, staffs the Providence Community Care Center, and provides outreach through the Navigation Team.

Mission:  Social justice and peace through interfaith understanding and cooperation
